Every so often I stumble upon a recipe that instantly turns into a family favorite! When the hubs came back for seconds and wanted all the leftovers for his lunch the next day I knew I had discovered a real keeper of a recipe. A huge shout out to the National Cattlemen’s Beef Association for this fantastic recipe. I was feeling particularly ambitious the other day and made my own Naan Bread and Tzatziki sauce from scratch, but you could keep it simple and use store bought instead. Serve up with a side of hummus to round out the meal. Keep reading for all the recipes. This was a truly delectable Mediterranean inspired meal! This one is worth trying!
Jump to RecipeDon’t let the idea of making your own meatballs scare you away from making this dish. They come together in just a few quick minutes and then go into the oven, easy-peasy! These meatballs get their distinctive flavor from fresh chopped parsley, garlic and cumin. You just won’t get the same fantastic flavor using frozen meatballs. I typically love the convenience of using frozen meatballs, but not for this recipe!
To keep things simple, you could most certainly pick up a package of pita or naan bread at the market, but if your feeling a little more adventurous and want to try making your own, give this delicious Easy To Make Garlic Naan Bread recipe a try. It’s an easy to make bread and it’s the perfect vessel to hold these delectable meatballs. Making fresh Naan bread significantly elevates the flavor of this meal. If you have the time I highly recommend making your own Naan bread.
Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
To make the meatballs, place the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, parsley, minced garlic, water, cumin, salt and pepper in a mixing bowl.
Use your hands to combine all the ingredients together.
Shape the meat mixture into 16 evenly sized meatballs.
Place meatballs on a broiler pan.
Bake meatballs at 400°F for 30 minutes. While the meatballs are in the oven you will have just enough time to cook up some Naan bread, prep all the veggies, and make some fresh Tzatziki sauce and Hummus.
Serve those delectable meatballs on flatbread topped with Tzatziki sauce, chopped tomatoes, arugula, and sliced red onion. Oh my goodness, this meal was OUTSTANDING!!! The meatballs are packed with flavor; they are soft, tender, and melt in your mouth. The crunch from the red onions and the peppery bite from the arugula is a nice contrast to the tender meatballs! And the Tzatziki sauce adds a refreshing tang to the party going on your mouth! You really must give this meal a try, it’s delicious!!!
Yes you could buy a container of Tzatsiki sauce at the store, but making it fresh, from scratch tastes so much better, and it’s good for you too. This Tantalizing Tzatziki Sauce is an easy to make light, refreshingly delicious, cool, creamy cucumber sauce that pairs beautifully with all your favorite Mediterranean foods. Better than anything you can get from the market…guaranteed!
I also love serving hummus alongside these delicious wraps. Naan bread is the perfect scooper upper! So are assorted fresh veggies. Instead of purchasing hummus make your own! When you see how ridiculously easy it is to make, and taste how good it is, you will never buy the pre-made stuff at the store again. Try Christina’s Heavenly Hummus recipe, it’s our very favorite. So good and so easy to make too!
