If you could have only one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Pizza? Burgers? Ice Cream? For me, hands down, it would be TACOS! There are endless combinations of fillings so you would never ever get bored. You can literally stuff almost anything between a corn tortilla and make it into a tasty meal. Beef, pork, chicken, Chicharrones, veggies, potatoes, cheese, pretty much anything will turn an ordinary corn tortilla into a tasty meal! Just add your favorite toppings and your tummy will be oh so happy.
Jump to RecipeThere are thousands of variations when it come to tacos, so what makes these tacos so special? The addition of tomato sauce to the meat mixture and frying the tortillas with the meat and cheese inside so that the cheese gets all gooey and melty and oh so yummy! The coup de grĆ¢ce? Adding a sprinkle of grated Parmesan cheese to the shells immediately after you remove them from the pan. The oil on the outside of the shells will help the cheese stick to the tacos and adds so much delicious flavor! This method of making ground beef tacos elevates them to a whole new level of deliciousness! Give it a try and let me know if you agree!
Start by browning a pound of ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it up into small crumbles with a wooden spoon as it cooks. Drain off excess fat.
Add taco seasoning, tomato sauce, and water to the ground beef.
Stir to combine and bring mixture to a simmer.
Continue to cook until all liquid has cooked off and meat mixture is no longer runny, about 10 minutes. You want a rich thick consistency kinda like chili. Remove from heat and set aside.
In another skillet heat a tablespoon vegetable oil over medium heat. Once the oil is hot place a corn tortilla in the pan. Fry until the tortilla softens, about 20-30 seconds.
Flip tortilla over and top with a layer of shredded cheddar cheese.
Add a heaping tablespoon of ground beef to half of the tortilla.
Fold tortilla in half to enclose the beef and cheese. Fry until tortilla is golden brown, about a minute or so.
Flip taco over and fry the other side till golden brown.
Remove taco from the skillet, allowing excess oil to drain off.
Place fried taco on a paper towel lined plate. Sprinkle the outside of the taco shells with grated Parmesan cheese as soon as you pull them out of the pan.
Continue until all the taco shells are cooked.
Top taco filling with your favorite toppings to serve.
I love that I can fry up all the tacos at once and that means I get to sit down with my family and eat with them. No more standing at the stove frying up shells one at a time for everyone. The savory ground beef paired with the melty cheese and sprinkle of Parmesan cheese on the outside of the shells really ups the flavor of these ground beef tacos. Not only are they delicious but they cook up super quick, making them the perfect week night meal for a Taco Tuesday! Give these tacos a try, you will love them, I promise!
Serve these tacos with some of the World’s Best Salsa. This is one of my all time favorite recipes on the blog. It tastes good on literally EVERYTHING! Tacos, tortilla chips, burritos, scrambled eggs, fried potatoes; literally everything is better topped with this salsa. This is the easiest to make, best tasting salsa you will ever eat, guaranteed! Be warned, it’s extremely addictive, and you won’t be able to stop eating it.
