How To Make Homemade Lemon, Parsley, Garlic Seasoned Salt

Boy oh boy, everything is getting so expensive! Spices have always been pricey but now it’s getting kinda ridiculous. Are you like me, always looking for creative, easy ways to save some money. Not only is this homemade seasoning easy and inexpensive to make, but it packs a serious punch of flavor. It’s made with just a few wholesome ingredients that yo most likely have on hand, and it contains no artificial preservatives or unpronounceable chemical additives. Healthy, inexpensive, and delicious. Have I piqued your curiosity? Want to learn how easy this is to make?

If you have an herb garden, go out and pick a handful of fresh parsley, gather together a few lemons, some garlic and Kosher salt and you are all ready to go. If you need to pick up any of the ingredients at the market, be sure to select organic produce to keep this seasoning as healthy as possible.

Start by washing off the parsley. Dry it, and strip the leaves from the stems. A few stems in the mix is ok, but you want more leaves than stems. Place the parsley leaves on a cutting board and chop it coarsely with a sharp knife.

Wash and dry the lemons. Zest them using a rasp grater.

Use the juice from those lemons for another purpose like whipping up a pitcher of Grandma Marie’s Best Homemade Lemonade. It’s tart, but not too tart. It’s sweet, but not too sweet. It’s the perfect libation to quench your thirst on a hot summer day!

It’s summer in a glass.

You can even use the leftover lemon skins to make An All Natural Organic Lemon Cleaner. Don’t let any part of those lemons go to waste. This easy to make cleaner uses every last bit of those lemons.

Alright, back to making our seasoned salt. Once you have zested all the lemons, enjoyed a glass of lemonade, and got your lemon cleaner going…add the lemon zest to the cutting board with the chopped parsley.

Chop the lemon zest and parsley together to combine them.

This smells lovely!!!

Now add the minced garlic and kosher salt to the lemon zest and parsley on the cutting board. Continue chopping to combine all the ingredients together.

TIP: Use a coarse salt for this seasoning; either Kosher salt or a coarse sea salt will work best. The larger granules of salt help to break down all the other ingredients as you’re chopping everything together.

Continue to chop, chop, chop, chop, chop, chop…until everything is finely minced.

This smells amazing!!!!!!!

Spread the seasoned salt mixture out in a thin layer onto a plate. Cover with a paper towel and allow mixture to dry completely, 2-3 days.

Once the seasoning is completely dry, transfer the dried seasoning into an airtight jar for long term storage.

DID YOU KNOW: Those plastic lids on grated Parmesan cheese containers fit perfectly on most mason jars.

Add this seasoning to your recipes anytime you normally add seasoned salt.

It’s amazing sprinkled on hot buttered pasta. Delicious on chicken, roasted vegetables and grilled fish. It’s such a versatile seasoning you can use on virtually EVERYTHING!!! There are so many flavor profiles you could experiment with using this method. Cilantro with lime would be fabulous with all your Mexican dishes. A rosemary & thyme seasoning would be a delicious addition to any Italian dish. What herbs do you have growing in your garden? This seasoned salt is endlessly versatile as far as what herb combinations you could try. Experiment with different flavor profiles. You are only limited by your imagination.
