It’s A BLT In A Bowl; How To Make A Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato Salad

If you love a BLT sandwich you are going to love, love, love this deconstructed version of your favorite sandwich in this easy to make salad. It’s got all your favorite BLT sandwich flavors but in a tasty salad version. Bacon? ☑️ Lettuce? ☑️ Tomato? ☑️ Creamy? ☑️ Toasted sourdough bread? ☑️ Bonus, it even has cheddar cheese. Seriously? Yep! Everything you’ll find on your beloved BLT sandwich; you’ll find it in this utterly delicious salad. Keep reading to find out how easy it is to make.

Cut bacon into 1 inch pieces and cook bacon over medium heat until browned and crisp. 

Transfer cooked bacon to a paper towel lined plate. Set aside to cool.

Cut bread into bite sized cubes.

Cook the cubed bread in the bacon fat left in the pan, until lightly browned and crisp. 

Remove with a slotted spoon and transfer onto a paper towel lined plate.

Bacon infused croutons…oh my!

Place chopped lettuce in a large bowl. Use a crisp lettuce such as iceberg or romaine for this salad.

Make sure it’s ice cold!

Chop tomato into bite sized chunks. Use juicy, vine ripened tomatoes from your garden if you have them for the best flavor; cherry, beefsteak, or heirloom would all be delicious!.

Add tomato to the lettuce in the bowl.

Pour Ranch salad dressing over lettuce and tomato and toss to coat. Use a bottled dressing or if you have a favorite recipe, make your own.

Add cooked bacon and toasted croutons to the bowl and toss to combine all the ingredients and coat them in the dressing.

Add shredded cheddar cheese and freshly ground pepper and serve.

Ingredients
  

  • ½ head Iceberg lettuce, roughly chopped
  • ½ lb bacon, cut into 1 inch pieces
  • 1 large tomato, chopped
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 6 slices sourdough baguette bread, cut into cubes
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Ranch dressing
  • freshly ground pepper

Instructions
